Lon often dreams he is walking across green fields while chasing a little white sphere which he hits far and straight. This is probably a result of his Scottish jeans and an overwhelming desire to wear a plaid kilt while playing the bagpipes. His Hawkeye fate was sealed in college, where he met his Iowa-raised wife. The story goes that she won his heart by teaching him to correctly spell Erik Erikson’s name. “I always thought there was a ‘C,’” said Lon, who at one time played football. After fleeing kismet for a respite in California, the young couple returned to the Beloved Homeland. In his counseling clinic, Lon briefly helps other people find their homeland. When he’s not scouring the sports page for Tim Dwight’s stats, he also pursues his other interests, such as political Australians.
